About Askden
Cast concrete, from Accra.
Askden hand-casts sinks, planters and kitchen worktops from glass-fibre reinforced concrete, out of a workshop in Accra. Nothing is stocked ahead of an order — a piece is mixed, poured, cured for weeks and sealed by hand, the same way whether it's one sink or a full kitchen run.
What we make
How it's cast
Mix
Glass-fibre reinforced concrete, batched by hand for each casting run — the fibre is what lets a piece stay thin without going brittle.
Cast
Poured into formwork built for that piece. One pour, one object — nothing is assembled from parts afterward.
Cure
Weeks, not days. Concrete keeps gaining strength long after it's set, and we don't ship ahead of that.
Seal
Sealed by hand to a matte finish that takes daily use — water, heat, wear — without needing to be babied.
Why concrete
It's heavy, it doesn't move, and it doesn't care what you put on it. Accra is hot and the water isn't always kind to fittings — concrete outlasts both, and it only gets better looking as it wears.
